Our Firm
Robert E. Kleinpeter and Alan L. Schwartzberg founded Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, L.L.C. in 1982 after having been partners in another firm. The partners dedicated Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, L.L.C. to the legal ideal that citizens unfairly injured by others should have access to the civil justice system no matter how poor or underprivileged they are. In exchange, Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, L.L.C. requires two conditions from its clients: they must be harmed by someone’s fault, and they must be really hurt.

Bob Kleinpeter, Alan Schwartzberg, and Jay McMains attended school together and were friends before practicing law. Yigal Bander worked at Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, L.L.C. before joining the firm as an attorney in 1997. The lawyers live in Baton Rouge but practice all over the state of Louisiana.

Our Work
Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, L.L.C. lawyers have almost one hundred years of legal experience protecting Louisiana families. Many of our clients have been injured in motor vehicle accidents involving cars, trucks, or eighteen wheelers. Other clients have been harmed by toxic chemicals, injured by a defective product, or harmed because of someone’s negligence. Sometimes we represent clients when their insurance company refuses to pay a claim such as uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, property loss, or health insurance benefits.

Community Involvement
Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, L.L.C. believes their lawyers should support Baton Rouge and surrounding communities by involvement in civic associations and activities. Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg regularly contributes to the Boy Scouts of America, St. Jude’s Foundation, The Special Olympics, the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Baton Rouge Union of Police, and local youth baseball teams. The firm is a sponsor of the Hemingbough Blues Festival and The Baton Rouge Symphony.

Our lawyers are regularly involved in local school activities, church and synagogue functions, and non-profit organizations. As an example, some of the lawyers and their families are leaders of The Children’s Developmental Center, The Beth Shalom Synagogue, and local school committees.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review system is based on a process developed and refined for more than 100 years.

Peer Review Ratings attest to both a lawyer’s standards of ethical practice and professional legal ability, determined from the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and Judiciary. Ratings are usually initiated by Martindale Hubbell beginning at five year intervals after a lawyer is admitted to the Bar.
