Jay G. McMains Of Counsel Attorney Jay G. McMains, Of Counsel to the firm of Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, LLC, has practiced law for over 27 years. His practice is concentrated in the areas of toxic torts, environmental litigation, products liability, and negligence. He served as Law Clerk to Hon. Edward J. Devitt, Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota from 1976-1978.

He was Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel for the Union National Life Insurance Company from 1981-1989. McMains was educated at Harvard College and Louisiana State University from which he graduated in 1973. He received a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia Law School in 1976, where he was Senior Editor for the Virginia Journal of International Law.
